Taking Your Next Step In Following Jesus Christ

Many of us are overwhelmed with the many decisions we have to make everyday. Because of the amount of decisions, we struggle to even make a decision or we are unable to make good decisions for what really matters. Reducing the amount of decisions helps to kill the busyness and distractions and to make good decisions for what matters most.

Recognizing what is essential and what is non-essential is vital in our lives. Decluttering our lives involves removing the non-essentials that are stealing our time, attention, and peace and refocusing back to the essentials. Reducing the clutter in our lives brings a clarity that helps us to be with Jesus.  

Many of us have more stuff than we know what to do with both in possessions and in our life. This stuff accumulates and begins to crowd out and take the place of what is most important. Striving to live a life of simplicity or being a minimalist can help us greatly of our goal to be with Jesus.  

Noise is whatever we crank up to drown out what is really going on. It is our time filler so we have no idle time. It is what can easily cut off our connection with God, with meaningful relationships with other people, and ourself. 

On this episode we talk about how to identify the noise in your life and share some ways to turn it down.  

The noise we are talking about is an external distraction we use to turn our minds off, to silence the voice in our heads, or to mask our true emotions and feelings. The noise in your life can easily get in-between you and God.

Learning to stop to sit with Jesus with all distractions blocked out will bring us to the place of abiding in Jesus. The abiding life is the life we all want to live. It is a different way of life but the best way of life. You have to experience it yourself to see.

We are not able to spend time with Jesus physically like we do with other people. How then can we be with Jesus? We talk about the second step to be with Jesus that of sitting with Jesus and how we can practically do this. 

This first step in being with Jesus is actually having an interest in Jesus. This is a hard question we need to really ask ourselves. Do we have a true interest in Him as a person to follow or if He is just we something we do by tradition.  

Distractions divide our attention and steal our time. There are many good things in life that Satan uses as distractions from what is best. We never find Jesus running around too busy or too distracted. He lived and modeled a different way of life and this is the life that you and I really want to live.  

So often we equate success with busyness. The busier we are the more successful we will be with but this is an incorrect gauge. One of the greatest enemies to our spiritual life is busyness. If we are not careful the busyness of life can take us away from Who and what is best. Join with the conversation on today's episode.

Being saved or accepting the free gift of salvation does not automatically enroll us into being a true follower of Jesus Christ. He has extended the invitation which we must accept or deny.
